Fish Processing Services in Soldotna
Your fish is tracked at every stage of processing to ensure the fish you receive is your very own catch.
Our processing services include up to three days of frozen storage, giving you the flexibility to pick up your fish at your convenience. Pricing is based on the incoming weight of your catch.
Please allow at least 24 hours for proper processing, freezing, and packaging of your catch. We offer shipping options that include boxing your fish for your flight or delivery directly to your home.
Fillet, Vacuum Seal and Flash Freeze: Price $2.99/lb
We expertly fillet, rib, and portion your salmon or halibut into convenient 1-2 lb packs. Each portion is lightly rinsed, vacuum-sealed in durable 5-mil polyethylene bags, and immediately frozen.
Our walk-in freezer is set to -20°F, which is 20 degrees colder than a standard home freezer, allowing for faster freezing and better preservation of your fish’s natural texture. We also use sheet pans to spread out each portion for optimal, quick freezing.
Your fish includes three days of free frozen storage, and we track it through every step of processing to ensure you receive your own catch when you collect.
Vacuum Seal and Freeze: Price $1.99/lb
We portion your salmon or halibut into 1-2 lb cuts, give them a light rinse, and vacuum-seal each in sturdy 5-mil polyethylene bags before freezing them immediately in our walk-in freezer. Skin or rib removal is additional $0.75/lb. Your fish includes three days of free frozen storage, and we track it throughout processing to ensure you receive your own catch at pickup.
Freezing only: Price $1.75/lb
We flash freeze and store your packaged salmon or halibut in our walk-in freezer for up to three days. Please note that this service may be limited during July and early August; call ahead to confirm availability.
Frozen storage only: Price $25.00/day
If you need storage beyond the three days included with our processing services, we offer extended storage at a flat daily rate for up to 50 lbs of frozen fish. This service may not be available during July and early August so please call ahead for availability.
Handle with care
Handle your wild Alaskan seafood carefully from the start to preserve its flavor and texture. Follow these three steps:
- Minimize thrashing – To avoid bruising the meat, immediately stun your fish with a quick blow to the head.
- Bleed the fish – After stunning, bleed your catch by breaking a gill and placing it in water for about 10 minutes. This prevents any ‘fishy’ taste.
- Keep it cold – Store your fish in a cooler with ice, ideally shaved ice, and be sure to drain excess water from the cooler.
And don’t forget to bring your catch in for processing as soon as possible!
